During the opening session, the UNAIDS Executive Director, Michel Sidibe said, “I am happy to be here because Zimbabwe has gone a long way in reversing the HIV pandemic, and has shown its commitment by mobilizing domestic resources through the introduction of HIV levy tax to mitigate the ever shrinking global funding.”

The GlobalPOWER, at the end of the two-day high level meeting, issued a statement called “Harare Call to Action” to engage with the African Union, Parliamentarians in Africa, Women Living with HIV, Civil Society Organizations, and Women Cultural and Traditional Leaders to promote gender equality and Women empowerment.

The GlobalPOWER is a platform of elected or appointed women representatives that seek to advance the cause of women in Africa through various empowerment initiatives.
